The first project supported by SOLIBAD will take place in Indonesia, with concrete assistance to an orphanage founded by an Australian woman in Bali (careforkidsbali.com). Most of the daily orphans (44 children) is now provided by Private donors and the children live in a peaceful environment and supervision, with general teaching provided by the municipal school on the outskirts of Denpasar. However they don’t have enough means to ensure their integration into working life once they have left the orphanage: all children have no individuals "sponsors" who could pay them some additional training requested to find a job out of the orphanage.
A program to help this integration via a computer training will be implemented with funds collected by SOLIBAD: we will buy some computers and trainings will be provided daily by a specialist teacher. This aid, based on at least one year, should enable the older people to leave the orphanage with sufficient experience to qualify for inclusion in working life.
Following, a project on the medium and long term: the establishment of a partnership between the orphanage and others in the region, local artisans, to imagine, create and produce products that could be sold with a “trade fair” label for players of badminton: boxes of shuttlecock, original trophies, jewelry, etc..
Children in orphanages with which we will implement this project will put, in both recreational activities and education, their imaginations in favour of creating such objects, which will be made with the help of the local artisans. They will also learn arts and crafts with these learning materials, and integrate the small manufacturing unit once they left the orphanage, if they wish.
This project, very concrete and currently implemented by our representative in Bali, is perfectly suitable with our desire to ensure continuity in our actions and, at the end, to enable the structures that we help to be autonomous.
The funds raised by SOLIBAD will be bound for these structures manufacturing original products. The result of the sale will be returned to the orphanage community partners, to "close the loop ! ".
We can, through our website, help the sale of these products to avoid intermediaries and allow repayment of the entire profits to the orphanage and artisans who are the children.
This project is sponsored by Taufik Hidayat, Olympic champion in 2004 and currently number 3 worldwide.
