puce_volant SANCTUARY CARE CENTER, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A second project is already under way this year by the teams SOLIBAD, with temporary assistance to an orphanage founded 7 years ago by a woman pastor and managed now by his son, Pastor Matthews and his wife Mayar.

This orphanage is located in the outskirts of the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, with two “non coeducational” (?) buildings, counting 35 children of school age from 3 to 17 years hosted.

The bulk of funds for the orphanage revenue is currently coming from Pastor Matthews, and from recycling which was done by the Pastor himself and donations from individuals (often close friends and neighbors).

The Pastor aim, since 7 years, is to make effort to be sure that children shine at school and get a state scholarship through their academic achievements, giving them access to an university education as it’s too expensive at the base.

Because of the red tape, the orphanage has not received yet the license to be allowed to receive from the government some subsidies. So it’s difficult for the structure to provide for daily expenses (excluding food) and donations from individuals (often relatives to the Pastor or neighbors) are not always sufficient to repay the loans made regularly.

Our work in this context will be to help the orphanage to meet their daily needs until obtaining the license from the state, and to work on projects similar to Bali for the creation of objects and products related to badminton to make sure that children leaving the orphanage will be train and will obtain an access to the attainment of crafts.

In the longer term and as funding opportunities from SOLIBAD, the Association could help to purchase a house property and allow the orphanage to dedicate resources only to the education of children without rent to pay - which is now the largest part of the expenses.

The sponsor of this project is Koo Kien Keat, player in doubles from the Malaysia team, currently No. 1 in the world.
