National Champs – Ambassadors shine

A lot of Solibad Ambassadors were involved in their National Championships this past week end and many of them secured – once again – the title. In Slovenia, Maja Tvrdy scooped two titles in the women’s singles and women’s double events. Agnese Allegrini, who had performed a wonderful flashmob Indian style in Dehli last September, was crowned in Italy. Same goes for Scott Evans, who has clinched aother national title just after scooping the Cyprus International. Petr Koukal is yet unbeaten in hs home of Czech Republic, with another title in men’s singles. Marc Zwiebler also was logically on the highest step of the podium in Germany, while Phyllis Chan secured her first ever National Title in women’s doubles with Alex Bruce in Canada.

Congratulations to them all ! HK Vittinghus and Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark will be hoping to get the title this net week end in Veljen. Good luck to them both.

A special farewell was given to Judith Meulendijks during the Dutch National Championships for her contribution to the sport there – we can only aknowledge this award as Judith is truly a great shuttler and a great Ambassador. Pi Hongyan, Solibad’s Global Ambassador was not in St Brieuc to fight for her title as she retired last year from International competition, but her image was shown live in the Stadium, wishing the two finalists of the women’s singles good luck.

Happy New Year 2013

All Solibad Ambassadors and the Solibad staff wish everyone of you a wonderful year of 2013. This past year 2012 has been a great year for us, with our projects improving, and a lot of people, clubs, getting involved to help Solibad and its projects.

2013 should bring a lot of excitement, with a recruitment drive scheduled for the early days of January. Then, on April 27th, we will have the second edition of “One Night With Stars” featring Peter Gade, Nathan Robertson, Wong Choong Hann, Suzanne Rayappan, Pi Hongyan and other famous guests, including some surprises for the spectators of the Queue D’Avre Hall in Geneva. June 29th is most likely to be the date for our Solibad Day in 2013, with Flashmobs all around the world, but also other ideas to promote the foundation and raise funds.

Solibad relies on every member of the social network to create a sustainable action.

You represent a club, local and national Association

Clubs, local or regional federations will play a key role in SOLIBAD action. More than an institution, our movement comes from the players themselves for whom clubs are an inexhaustible source of enthusiastic projects. This is how any club or ‘group’ centred on badminton can really help us:

• As a club or League, Association, become a member of SOLIBAD : from 30 € a year (link)

• Ask your own members to become Solibad members by collecting money on our behalf

• Organise SOLIBAD tournaments (for your members or for any players) : give back some money from the fees, or benefits from stalls, a lottery or any selling to SOLIBAD.

• Organise top players’ exhibitions: some of our Ambassadors will be happy, when they are free, to give some of their free time to participate in fund raising events for Solibad.

• Organise a fund raising in your city during sport or cultural events.

• Help Solibad to be widely known : put our banners/ links on your web site, or our leaflets in your sport halls. Promote Solibad in your forums, in neighbouring clubs, friends …

• Wear our logo: If you’re interested by our project, you can also make your team T-shirts flocked. We can make our logo in any colour, white or black to make it match with your T-shirt.

It is important to us that, while helping us though all these action, that you keep our motto in mind : make a change while having fun.

If Solibad action is promoted mostly by players of all levels, all ages all around the planet, there is nothing such as the implication of stars and Top player to motivate people to get involved. Some of the world’s top players have joined us, behind our Global Ambassador Pi Hongyan and our Special Ambassador Peter Gade.

Top players, you also have an essential role to help us in promoting our actions.

You can help us in:

• Putting our logo on you internet site, or even better on your training or tournament T-shirt if you can.
• Talking about us during interviews and media work
• Talking about us to your team mates.
• Giving us a little of your time for exhibitions or fund raising events, autograph sessions
• Giving your material : T-shirts, rackets, for auctions or as prizes for SOLIBAD events.

Each project is studied with care and approved by the Solibad team for its sustainability

Each project will have a dedicated person in charge within Solibad and can be endorsed by one of our Ambassadors (a Top player).

Even if resources come mainly from the actions of the badminton community, the projects we pursue are not necessarily related directly to badminton.

To fulfill its objectives, SOLIBAD will seek funding from individuals or institutions with the help of partners who follow us in our objectives through fundraising and different types of events. All without obligation, free and totally independent without any religious or political connotations

The Distribution of Aide

One of the key aims of SOLIBAD is to ensure that 100% of the funds raised will definitely go to our projects. By selecting with greater attention the local projects we are supporting, whether local associations that we have verified the reliabilityof, or the direct populations we intend to help. In addition to this we intend to distribute fairly and evenly, the goods or funds collected by going to the places chosen for aid assistance. Finally, by ensuring the match between all the projects and their achievements in the (actual) field.

Thanks to volunteers, all funds that are raised will go directly into our projects. The administrative costs will be taken care of by the Badzine Association. Other expenses (airfares, etc.) incurred by project participants will be paid by outside agencies or by the individuals themselves.

Similarly, our “Badzine Trips” could be linked to projects for the delivery of goods and a means to do that without charge, in exchange and encounter (Badzine Trip 7 in Indonesia, Project 2011). The main way of promoting our actions will be the distribution of information via both the Internet and word of mouth, to avoid charges and excessive and unnecessary paper usage to avoid any environmental concerns.

How can I participate ?

Players at all levels, leaders club, CODEP, League or Federation, physical education teachers involved in the UNSS, CEO or simply fans of badminton, everybody is welcome to bring their “feathers” and join in!

There are many ways in which you can help: you can of course simply join us and thus contribute to SOLIBAD. You can also participate or organize different events, fundraising tournaments, demonstrations, festivals and other events within the community of badminton. Raffles and contests can also be organised, whereby a percentage of the receipts taken for refreshments, voluntary donations, entry fees and so forth are used to assist SOLIBAD’s fundraising efforts.

Raising funds is of course essential, but SOLIBAD awareness within and outside the community of badminton is also very important. So you can also help us by wearing the colors of SOLIBAD, displaying the logo and information about SOLIBAD in your gymnasiums and on your websites, or only by simply spreading the word by telling people what we’re trying to achieve!

Become a member of Solibad: Make a donation to help our projects.

Donate your time to SOLIBAD:

We need help to get projects going, to organise and manage our events, and we need local ambassadors who can help us spread the word. If you have free time and wish to help, you are welcome to join the team of Solibad volunteers.
