The project in Vietnam is to help Mr Vu, a passionate coach who has been building a small Badminton School in his village of Bac Gianc, in the middle of North Vietnam. With no means, Mr Vu set up a badminton court in his own backyard and started coaching kids from the village 10 years ago. More and more children came to get his wise advices and pick up the badminton skills. Now, more than 25 children get his daily school programs and badminton training. Some of his students have made it to the provincial team and National team of Vietnam, with one of his former Student, Nguyen Thi Trung, scooping the Bronze Medal of the 2010 Youth Olympic Games – a first in the history of Vietnam.
SoliBad visited Mr Vu in March 2011 and decided to help his academy, by providing some equipment and some financial support to buy shuttlecocks, and help Mr Vu’s team to travel and be able to compete in local championships – in order to get the recognition they deserve.
