Sweet Silence – India

The project « Sweet Silence » was started by Sandrine Destouches, a French primary school teacher, in 2012. Her idea was to discover indian culture by helping those in the needs. The project helps a school of deaf children – mostly orphans – situated in the small city of Sivasailam, 180 km from Madurai. Around 100 children are within this school.

In 2102, Sandrine and other volunteers came to visit the school and brought with them school books and furniture as well as 40 badminton rackets.

In July of 2014, another visit was the first one officially under the Solibad banner – computers have been bought thanks to Solibad’s financial support and the new project has been officially validated as part of Solibad’s main projects.

Our joint goal, for this project, is now to raise funds to allow these children with hearing problem of deaf, to benefit from specialized audio equipment so that they can enter regular school and enjoy a normal life.

After their Commonwealth Games amazing results, India’s Gold Medalist in Glasgow Kashyap Parupalli kept his winning shirt for au auction for this project, as well as Silver Medalists Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta
