A second project was started very early after the birth of SoliBad, giving assistance to an orphanage founded 7 years ago by a woman pastor and managed now by her son, Pastor Matthews and his wife Malar.
This orphanage is located in the outskirts of the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, with two “non co-educational” (?) buildings, counting 35 children of school age from 3 to 17 years.
The bulk of funds for the orphanage is currently coming from Pastor Matthews, from recycling done by the Pastor himself and from donations from individuals (often close friends and neighbours). The Pastor’s aim, over the past 7 years, is to make effort to be sure that children shine at school and get a state scholarship for their academic achievements, giving them access to an university education as it’s too expensive at the base.
Because of red tape, the orphanage has not yet received a license to be allowed to receive government subsidies. As a result it’s difficult for the organisation to provide for daily expenses (excluding food) and donations from individuals are not always sufficient to repay the loans made regularly.
Our work in this context will be to help the orphanage to meet their daily needs until obtaining the license from the state.
In 2011, another financial help has been sent to Sanctuary Care Centre, which once again came at a good time to pay for the bills and the daily needs of the children.
The sponsor of this project is Koo Kien Keat, a doubles player from the Malaysia team, currently No. 1 in the world, who has personally visited the orphanage and raised funds on his own to help the orphanage in 2010.
