The program in details :
The Poona badminton is a club that allows about 40 children but also to
about twenty adults to be able, for a few hours, to forget their everyday life
difficult. It aims to help children living in poor areas on the
heights of the city.
The means at the disposal of this club are very modest. Steering wheels, for example, are very expensive in Colombia. Families do not have the possibility to buy a racket and some players do not even have adequate shoes. In addition, children living in the surrounding mountains cannot come to practice because the price of public transportation is too high.
Jillie Cooper, a young top Scottish player, is currently there to help them. It is at her request that Solibad sent, in February 2015, rackets, clothing, shuttlecocks and shoes collected during the Senior French Championships in Aire Sur la Lys. The parents were moved to tears and the children had wonderful smiles of joy when they received this material.
The Solibad office has decided to officially integrate the "Medellin" project into our sustainable action programs. We are going to continue our help by sending material but also money to allow about ten more poor children (living further in the mountains) to join this club to get out of their environment and be able to envisage a more serene future.
At the end of March 2015, 1500 € were sent to Medellin to financially support this new program.
